TRAFFORD, Pa. (pacathletics.org) - After registering a 16-4 record in conference action during the regular season, Washington & Jefferson College has earned the top seed for this week's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Baseball Tournament. For the first time this season, the conference tournament will be a six-team, double-elimination championship. It will be held Wednesday-Saturday, May 8-11 at Ross Memorial Park in Washington, Pa. The PAC Sports Network (PACSN) will deliver live broadcasts of all of this year's tournament games atpacstream.net. The Tournament gets underway at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, with top-seed W&J (28-12, 16-4 PAC) taking on sixth-seed Thiel College (15-22, 10-10 PAC) in Game A. At 2:30 p.m. in Game B, second-seeded Grove City College (24-12, 15-5 PAC) will face No. 5 Westminster College (18-20, 11-9 PAC). The final game on the opening day of the Tournament will feature the No. 3 seed Waynesburg University (23-16, 15-5 PAC) matching up with the fourth-seed Allegheny College (26-12, 14-6 PAC) in Game C at 6 pm. The tournament will continue through Saturday's championship game(s), with the full schedule posted below. W&J has been the No. 1 seed in the Tournament for seven straight years. The Presidents, led by 22nd-year head coachJeff Mountain, are making their 15th straight tournament appearance. W&J won its 15th PAC title in 2023 and fourth in a row with a 12-3 victory in the title game over Saint Vincent College.
Grove City is under the direction of ninth-year head coach Matt Royer. The Wolverines are making their fifth straight appearance in the PAC Tournament and will be trying to win their first conference crown since 2002.
Third-year head coach Perry Cunningham leads the Waynesburg program into the PAC Tournament for the first time since 2019. The Yellow Jackets last won the league title in 1998.
Allegheny, led by seventh-year head coach Brandon Crum, will be making their first appearance ever in the PAC Baseball Tournament, which was initially played in 2001. The Gators, who competed in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) from 1984-2022, returned to the PAC prior to last season. Allegheny won 14 PAC Championships during their previous time in the league, with the last coming in 1977.
Westminster, with fifth-year head coach Patrick Riley at the helm, are in the PAC Tournament for the third year in a row. The Titans are seeking their first conference title since 2012.
Thiel head coachJoe Schaly, now in his 25th year leading the program, brings the Tomcats into the league playoffs for the first time since 2018. Thiel's last PAC championship came in 2003.
The PAC Championship Tournament winner will earn the conference's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. Selections for the Division III Championship are scheduled to be announced Monday, May 13 with regional preliminary round play slated for Thursday-Monday, May 16-20. Regional champions will compete in the Super Regionals, a best-of-three series, to determine the eight participants in this year's Division III College World Series, scheduled for Friday-Thursday, May 31-June 6. The Division III College World Series will be held at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio.
